BPS Art Department staff collaboration time. Please attend other mandatory or required sessions as needed throughout the day. Please note that this session will be held at Burlington High School.
  • Studio Time / Skill Building -- Have teacher(s) teach their strengths to the rest of the group: clay techniques and observational drawing). Forum for discussion of HOW we each teach a certain topic or method. What language do we use? How do we engage higher-order thinking with this topic? What strategies do we think are helpful? We would focus on both clay techniques (using the wheels in the ceramics studio) and observational drawing.
  • DDM review/revision -- Most of us administered at least one DDM last year. We will have time to discuss the outcomes, and determine whether these are good tools to assess student growth and teacher impact. If not, we'll revise them or work on new DDMs.
  • Development of teaching websites: For some teachers, this might be basic setup, starting with Weebly, Wix, or Wordpress (We'd stick to just one for now.). For teachers with sites already, they could have time to build a more extensive site that includes more content: course descriptions, course expectations, curriculum maps with well-designed units, lessons with mastery-based objectives, steps in processes, context for learning, (full lesson plans), assignments, references and resources, etc. Basically, building a full curriculum into an easily accessible online resource. Art teachers who have extensive working websites will help those with little or no experience.
